| This grand home was the summer
retreat for
Marcus Daly and his family. It has two stories, three if you
count the guest and servants' quarters in the massive attic, 25
bedrooms, and 15 bathrooms. The 24,000 sq ft home is furnished
with many of its original pieces. Allow extra time to view the
beautiful grounds and interesting outbuildings. |

| St Mary's Mission was established in 1841 by Fr. Pierre DeSmet. He came at the request of several Native American tribes who sought ‘blackrobes’ to teach them. Most of the furniture you will see was made by Fr. Anthony Ravalli, Montana's first medical doctor, for whom the county is named. His combination house and pharmacy are open for viewing as well. | This one acre preserved area is on the site of
the first white
settlement in
Montana. The fort was established later in 1850 by Major John
Owen as a regional trade center. The east barracks has been
restored and contains furniture and other items from the period. This is a pack-in / pack-out area which has a picnic table and a vault toilet. Easy walk. |

to the public for viewing and photography. It has 2.5 miles of nature
trails in the viewing area, including a 0.5 mile wheelchair accessible

flight of
the Nez Perce went directly down the Bitterroot Valley. Beginning at Lolo Pass, they traveled south to the area known today as Chief Joseph Pass. From there, they went east through the Big Hole. If you have an opportunity to travel Highway 43 going east out of Chief Joseph Pass, please visit the Big Hole National Battlefield. |
